Volcano Collects Awards for "smokeless innovation"

Volcano Vaporizer collected 2003 awards for “smokeless” innovation

The revolutionary Volcano Vaporizer continues to receive accolades from industry professionals and users themselves for the innovative “smokeless” experience it provides.

On Nov. 17, 2003, representatives of Storz & Bickel GMBH and Co., German manufacturers of the Volcano, accepted the Dr. Rudolph Eberle Prize for innovation in the state of Baden-Wuerttemberg. The prize is awarded annually (since 1985) to small- and medium-sized businesses in the region that have implemented outstanding technological innovations. The prize committee used the criteria of technical progress, special entrepreneurial achievement and the economic success of the innovation in making its decision.

Since its inception, excitement surrounding this incredibly simple but effective product keeps growing, and why wouldn´t it? The Volcano Vaporizer is a unique experience. The patented device accomplishes this by allowing inhalation of only the less-harmful vapors rather than smoke while maintaining all the flavor. But the thing most people rave about is the unique balloon which fills with translucent vapor held in by a release valve.

"This recognition underscores the inventive and entrepreneurial achievement we put into developing and marketing the Volcano while providing us with the incentive to develop similarly innovative applications,” said one of the manufacturers of the Volcano after receiving the Eberle Prize.

The Volcano comes from in Tuttlingen, a town in Southern Germany regarded internationally as the center of medical technology development and manufacturing.

A multitude of carcinogenic materials is present in smoke. This device removes the tar and smoke along with 80 percent of the harmful combusted materials from the vapor.

The primary requirement of a vaporizer is the capacity to maintain the temperature just above the point of vaporization in order to obtain an optimum level of both efficiency and flavor, along with minimized production of harmful substances. Other points are the greatest level of safety for the user, ease of operation and inhalation, which is separate from the vaporizing process. The Volcano solves the problem of hot-air generation by employing an astoundingly simple principle: the air is pumped through a heated aluminum block (similar to an oven with aeration ducts) and thus inevitably assumes the desired temperature, while a diaphragm pump ensures the air flow remains constant.

This device functions so effectively that electronic controls are not needed. A bimetallic control mechanism is sufficient to ensure a maximum air temperature fluctuation of +-4°C in the filling chamber, meaning the Volcano has the most accurate temperature control of all vaporizers.
