Why does it cost so much? 

More components and better technology leads to higher costs. If the construction is heavy duty, and the technology is much more complicated, then it is more expensive.

The more machine, the more the cost. But quality control is also a big factor. Most vaporizers are hand asembled in relatively small quantities. The purer an higher grade the materials used, the greater the cost.  Great vaporizers are clean throughout and offer a good experience.

So, high quality vaporizers also use higher quality parts. When you buy the lesser cost models the tradeoff is also quality control. And, with vaporizers the quality control is critical because you need clean and relible meterials and construction. A key factor is the materials and the quality of materials and construction. The best vaporizers have much better relaibility AND cleaner, more consistent materials and components. Does the Manufacturer Stand Behind the Product?

If the manufacturer stands behind the product, that's an indicator of better quality control. If the manufacturer is not responsible for what happens with the product, then they won't have as much concern for the safety and reliability of the product.

All the manfacturers make stuff overseas or buy parts from suppliers that buy stuff from overseas. What happens in the event of guarantee or repair?

Warranties do not cover damage. If the unit is damaged, you have to pay for repairs.

Can the vaporization materials burn?

Most vaporizers will not burn the materials. However, some are designed to reach combustion as an option. But most vaporizers hold the temperature below combustion. In fact, that is the primary concept with vaporization.

How long can the vapors be stored in the balloon?

The vapors in the balloon condense over time onto the walls of the balloon but you can fill a balloon and use it independently from the machine, and the vapor will store for a few hours. This is helpful for lot of applictions. With high quality essential oils, the vapor usually remains at least 80% viable at four hours.

Which factors determine the amount of vapor?

The heat and the amount of material used determines the amount of vapor produced. The lower the temp, the more "green" the flavor. Most aroma materials vaporize at about 350 degrees.

Some air circulation is necessary in the chamber and the chamber has to maintain the heat. Most vaporizers can not really maintain the heat at 100% which is the big problem with vaporization. The air circulation causes the heat to fluctuate. So as soon as the vapor starts releasing, the heat source has to maintain the heat in the chamber.

Some vaporizers use nebulizing technology. This essentially means that the essential oil is sprayed in an ultra fine mist or vapor. Some devices employ both heat and nebulizing technology. Generally, nebulizers are restricted to oils only, and so they can not vaporize plant material, whereas the true vaporizer vaporizes anything.

An effective vaporizer does not influence the flavor or aroma of the plant material or essential oil in any way.

Which temperature should I select?

Materials will vaporize between 300 and 450 degrees. The temperatures should first be put as low as possible, so that vapors only just develop. Some vaporizers have no temperature adustment. Since materials do not all vaporizer at the same exact temperature, no temperature control potentially restricts potential useage.

The accuracy of temperature indicators on vaporizers are not 100% reliable. Even digital displays which appear to be extremely accurate are misleading if the display does not correspond to the actual temperature in the filling chamber. Conducting ones own observations is better in this respect. The real temperature depends on exactly where the temperature is measured which can vary from vaporizer to vaporizer.

Generally vapor appears as a white mist. Vapor which is barely perceivable indicates that either the temperature is too low or the material to be vaporized has nothing left in it to give off. You can see the vapor when a device is working, but if it is really thick and totally non-transparent, it's too hot and/or vaporizing too quickly.

Where do I get fuel for the iolite Vaporizer?

The Iolite will use any butane fuel, but we recommend Vector Butane fuel. Ronson fuel in particual has been known to cause some problems. Butane fuel is available at drug stores and at most larger discount or even grocery stores. Major stores like Walmart, Rite-Aid, Safeway, or Target have Butane Fuel suitable for use in the iolite. It uses the same fuel as butane lighters.


Where Can I get a faster charger or extra batteries for the Magic Flight?

The Energizer 15 minute fast charger is the recommended fast charger and is avilable at larger stores. We sell replacement batteries and chargers, but you can use any AA peeled nimh rechargeable battery. The super fast energizer 15 minute fast charger is nice because it charges much faster than other chargers.


Does the balloon material or the vaporizer or handkit give off any substances to the vapors which are then inhaled by the user?

No, none at all. That is the point. The point of a vaporizer is to apply the maximum possible care and diligence in all materials which come into contact with the air inhaled.
