In response to high consumer demand for quality vaporizers, a new version of the popular Volcano Vaporizer is now on the market, featuring more accurate, digital control over vaporization temperature. It is augmented by a low-maintenance valve set that makes "filling the balloon" a breeze.

Volcano Vaporizer Classic and new Digit units both accommodate the standard Solid Valve, mouthpiece and inflatable balloon, but to upgrade the product line, German manufacturers also introduced the Easy Valve, with a unique membrane system that allows users to fill multiple balloons at once.

The Volcano Digit offers precision electronic control - the user can set the unit's vaporization temperature between 104-446 degrees Fahrenheit. The Classic unit's bimetal regulator permits a vaporization-temperature range of 226-446 degrees. The digital control is a proprietary Storz and Bickel controller that holds the temperature in the heating chamber to a tighter range. The Digit holds plus minus 2.7 degrees versus the Classic's plus minus 9 degrees. The Digit holds a much tighter range and is more accurate, yet the functionality is highly similar because the Classic still holds the temperature in the rnge needed for accurate vaporization of most materials. Plus the Classics controller has a lot fewer parts and is therefore more failsafe.

The Easy Valve is lighter and more robust than the Solid Valve, with a filling chamber diameter optimized for personal use. The Easy Valve has better over-all functionality with virtually no condensation. It requires less maintenance and set-up time than its predecessor, and its new design means the valve-balloon attachment is always ready to use. Once the Easy Valve is no longer usable, it is replaced with a new one, while the filling chamber is cleaned and re-used.

These exciting developments open the door to four possible combinations for Volcano users, since the Classic and Digit both accommodate the two types of valves. We encourage customers to get both the Easy Valve and Solid Valve because it's handy to have both valve sets. With a community setting, the Easy System allows for fill up additional balloons, rather than being restricted to one balloon, whereas the solid system is more reliable and more inexpensive for personal use.

The prize is awarded annually (since 1985) to small- and medium-sized businesses in the region that have implemented outstanding technological innovations. The prize committee used the criteria of technical progress, special entrepreneurial achievement and the economic success of the innovation in making its decision.
