This is a Solid Valve filling chamber pre-set-up for liquids. It can also be used for very finely ground spices and herbs as well as oils, or extrcts.
On the newer versions of the Volcano, the filling chamber for herbs and the filling chamber for liquids are the same except for the inserts. However, this filling chamber will fit any Volcno Base including older models and the new Digit.
The Solid Valve System includes both types of screens as well as liquid pads when you buy the Complete Set. Normally, you can get it done with just the liquid pad sets, and use your normal filling chamber for herbs.
However, if you want it's nice to have it set up separately for the greatest ease of use.
